Answer to the question “What was the first single from the Eagles’ “Hotel California” album?

“Hotel California” is easily the Eagles’ most recognizable song — possibly of all time, but certainly from the band’s 1976 album of the same name. Perhaps surprisingly, though, “Hotel California” was not the first single released from “Hotel California.” Instead, the group — which at the time consisted of Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, and Randy Meisner — led with “New Kid in Town,” a worthy tune that eventually became their third Billboard No. 1 hit.

The album’s title track followed as the second single a few months later and quickly rose to the top of the charts. It went on to win Record of the Year at the 1978 Grammy Awards and is still considered one of the band’s best songs today.
