Answer to the question “Which of these was NOT a category in the original version of Trivial Pursuit?

Chris Haney and Scott Abbott were playing Scrabble on December 15, 1979, when they came up with the idea for their own game. It took them nearly three years to find investors and then produce the game, but in late 1981, the first version of Trivial Pursuit hit stores. The concept was (and still is) simple: As players move their pieces around the board, they have to correctly answer trivia questions in different categories, each of which corresponds to a color on the board. On certain spaces, a correct answer yields a colored wedge that can be slotted into the player’s game piece.

The goal is to collect all six wedges — one for each category. In the original game, those categories (and their corresponding colors) were: Geography (blue), Entertainment (pink), History (yellow), Arts & Literature (brown), Science & Nature (green), and Sports & Leisure (orange). Since 1981, however, there have been dozens of updates and special editions, many of which have their own unique categories. The 1991 “TV Edition,” for example, has categories such as Classics, Sitcoms, and Drama, while the 2002 “Disney Animated Picture Edition” features questions about Monsters & Villains, Heroes & Heroines, Supporting Stars, and Places & Props.
